GreenPower has announced it is to continue sponsorship of the RSPB Community Initiative Award into an 11th year. This Award, part of the annual Nature of Scotland Awards, goes to the community project that the judges believe has clearly demonstrated how nature has benefitted from their actions. This year for the first time the short listed Community Initiative projects will be open to a public vote in September to decide the overall winner.
The deadline for nominations closes on the 30th May – so there is still time to enter. As in previous years, all those who are nominated will be invited to attend the short-listing evening event at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 20 September. Following that announcement RSPB will open a public vote to select the winning ‘Community Initiative’. The Awards dinner will then take place at the EICC, Edinburgh on the 22 November 2023.
Rob Forrest, CEO of GreenPower said “I am delighted to announce that we will sponsor this special award again this year. It is always one of the most inspirational and sought after awards at the event and we look forward to another bumper year of nominations for the amazing work that is done to boost nature through local projects and volunteering. It becomes a public vote this year too which is a brilliant way to highlight the work that is carried out all over Scotland.
“Each year the Awards have attracted entries from across Scotland and the range and imagination behind all the projects is an inspiration to us all to get out there and join others in doing practical conservation work.”
“We believe that nature conservation and renewable energy should go hand-in-hand and each year we are blown away by the dedication of those who work together to protect the natural world whether on their doorstep or further afield.”
